Did You Know...How Can Chemicals Change How You Look?
When you or a family member suddenly feels unwell from exposure to chemicals or allergenic substances, look for changes in appearance. Many adults and children suddenly develop:
- Dark blue, black or pink eye circles
- Wrinkles or abnormally puffy bags under the eyes
- A spaced out or demonic look
- Bright red cheeks, nose tips or earlobes
- Wiggly legs
- Nose rubbing
- Throat clearing or coughing
- Lip licking
- A puffy look to face, hands and knuckles
- Adults also sometimes develop a blanched pale ring around the outer edge of their lips and slightly swollen lip edges.
The above changes provide clues to quickly warn family members, friends, teachers or co-workers that a reaction to a chemical or environmental exposure (ie. dust, molds, pollen or foods) has begun. |
